Challanging situation for media Planners in India


The Volatility of Indian entertainment channels impact on its audience is very high. The datas in terms of Gross rating Points is changing dramatically in each week. Despite of the deep understanding of Indian audience, Channel content directors are failing to retain its audiances periodcally.
Week 49 of TAM 2011s data provided by some of the media, Star Plus remained the leader for this week as well with 318 Points, last week it was 312. Sony Entertainment Television has again made a comeback to the No. 2 position by adding a few GRPs this week. The channel has registered 240 GRPs this week, last week 231.
Colors goes down to No 3 position again by loosing 50 GRPS in an week. From 277 Points to 227 Points this week. The top 5 shows for Week 49 (November 27 – December 3) are Saathiya (6.0 TVR), Diya Aur Baati Hum (4.9 TVR), Balika Badhu (4.3 TVR), BALH (4.3 TVR) and Crime Patrol (3.8 TVR).
Zee TV has added 3 GRPs this week to record 152 GRPs (last week 149). SAB TV has seen some considerable growth after a few weeks, adding 12 GRPs this week to register 120 GRPs (last week 108). At No. 6, Imagine TV has recorded 77 GRPs this week (last week 73). Star One has registered 39 GRPs (last week 42), while Sahara Onehas 39 GRPs (last week 36).
